In Lahore, the Anti-Terrorism Court has granted a five-day physical remand for Dr. Yasmin Rashid, who was brought before the court by the police in connection with charges related to arson and provocative speeches on Sherpao Bridge.
The presiding Judge Abhar Gul Khan considered the police’s request, which included accusations of incitement to sedition, inciting riots, and engaging in acts akin to waging war. The investigating officer sought Dr. Yasmin Rashid’s physical custody to delve into these fresh allegations.
The Anti-Terrorism Court acceded to the police’s request and sanctioned a five-day physical remand for Dr. Yasmin Rashid, setting a date for his next appearance on September 14. It’s important to note that the Sarwar Road police station had filed a case against Dr. Yasmin Rashid.
In a separate development, the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court has remanded six suspects, who were apprehended in connection with a case involving arson and a siege reported at Shadman police station, to judicial custody. Following the conclusion of their physical remand, the police presented the six accused before the court. However, the court dismissed the request for an extended physical remand and instead ordered that the six accused be sent to jail on judicial remand. The accused individuals include Arbaaz, Abdul Hafeez, Faheem Qaiser, Tahir Khan Muhammad Gul, and Ghulam Abbas.
Furthermore, in the case related to the Askari Tower fire, the police once again presented Khadija Shah for a physical remand in front of the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court. The police argued that Khadija Shah should be subject to further investigation in light of new evidence, and they requested the court to grant a physical remand for this purpose.
