The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has withdrawn the chancellorship of universities from the governor.
The amendment to make the term of office of the vice-chancellors four years has also been approved.
According to several amendments in the Universities Act, the Chief Minister will be the chancellor of all public sector universities, the appointment of only female candidates for the posts of vice-chancellor in women’s universities has been made mandatory.
It should be noted that the power struggle between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur belonging to Tehreek-e-Insaf and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi belonging to PPP has been going on for a long time.
Earlier in September this year, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi had rejected Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s summary of reshuffle in the provincial cabinet.
While rejecting the summary, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi wrote in his note that it is unconstitutional to have more than five advisors in the Chief Minister’s cabinet legally and adding one more advisor to the cabinet will increase the number to six.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi wrote a note to Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and returned the summary.
Earlier in a statement in May, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi said that the economy of the province is very bad but still concessions are being demanded.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi had told the media after his visit to Radio Pakistan Peshawar that the incident of May 9 was very shameful, unless the punishment is done in the true sense, peace is difficult to come.
