Today marks the official commencement by the Election Commission of activities related to constituencies in preparation for the upcoming general elections.
During the initial phase, the formation of committees pertaining to constituencies will commence. These committees will be established for the federal capital as well as the provinces.
The primary responsibility of these Constituency Committees will involve the gathering of essential data, including district maps and population statistics. By August 31, these committees will have acquired the census report for each district along with other pertinent information. Subsequently, in the third phase, a four-day training for the Constituency Committees is scheduled to commence on September 1.
As per the Election Commission’s plan, the preliminary delineation of constituencies is set to occur between September 8 and October 7. Details of these preliminary constituencies will be made public on October 9. During the period from October 10 to November 8, individuals will have the opportunity to submit objections or suggestions regarding the delineation.
From October 10 to December 9, the Election Commission will conduct hearings and make determinations on the raised objections. The finalization of constituencies is anticipated to conclude by December 14.
