The Election Commission has deferred its decision regarding the removal of the ex-chairman of PTI from his party position.
Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja led a 5-member bench that oversaw the proceedings, with former chairman PTI’s lawyer Shoaib and petitioner Khalid Mahmood advocate present.
During the hearing, Lawyer Shoaib Shaheen informed the commission about submitting the inter-party election records, asserting that this should conclude the case legally. He emphasized the presence of a new chairman within the party, signaling the closure of the matter. However, he suggested pursuing any further action through Akbar S. Babar, the petitioner.
In response, the Chief Election Commissioner hinted at the possibility of Khalid Mahmood filing a petition against the new chairman as well. Khalid Mahmood argued that the former prime minister, being convicted, is ineligible to hold any party position, to which the Commissioner remarked on the founder chairman of PTI not contesting the election, leaving the situation uncertain.
