In Islamabad, PTI leader Murad Saeed has submitted a petition, representing Ahsan Iqbal, seeking to nullify prior hearings in a defamation case.
Through his legal representative, Murad Saeed lodged a request to invalidate previous sessions in the defamation lawsuit on behalf of Ahsan Iqbal in the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad.
In the petition presented by Murad Saeed, the attorney argued that on May 15, it came to their attention that unilateral court proceedings against Murad Saeed were initiated. Contrary to this, on April 23, the court staff informed the assistant counsel that the subsequent hearing was scheduled for June 6. Consequently, hearings on May 6 and May 14 were missed due to the expectation of a session on June 6, as per the misrepresented date.
The petition informed the court that upon review, it was discovered that the hearing date had been altered. Exploiting this discrepancy, Ahsan Iqbal recorded a witness statement for the first time in four years. Despite two rejections due to non-attendance, Ahsan Iqbal’s application was eventually accepted. Murad Saeed alleged a conspiracy against him, advocating for the invalidation of the hearings on May 6 and 14. Furthermore, he urged for Ahsan Iqbal to re-present evidence in the presence of his legal representative and demanded a court inquiry into the manipulation of records.
Following the adjournment due to the leave of Additional Sessions Judge Hasina Saqlain, the hearing was rescheduled for June 4.
