In Rawalpindi, the Lahore High Court’s bench declared the detention of Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shehryar Khan Afridi, his brother Farrukh Afridi, female leader Nadia Hussain, and Shah Jahan as illegal. The court ordered the immediate release of all four individuals. The High Court Judge, Justice Anwar-ul-Haq Pannu, deemed the Deputy Commissioner’s orders to detain the four leaders for 15 days as unconstitutional and illegal. The court firmly stated that it does not tolerate any actions that go against the law and the constitution.
Moreover, the court granted protective bail to Shehryar Khan Afridi in the Bahawalpur police station wheat theft case and ordered his prompt release. The court also dismissed any claims of disturbances to law and order in relation to the detention by the Deputy Commissioner and CPO.
