In Karachi, the Sindh High Court has recently ruled to cancel the detention of 10 members of the Pashtun Protection Movement and 2 members of United London.
The court deemed their detentions illegal and ordered the Secretary of the Home Department and the Inspector General of Sindh to release them immediately, provided they are not wanted in any other criminal cases. Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry pointed out that the Interior Department lacks the authority to detain citizens merely on the grounds of alleged breach of peace. Consequently, the court declared their detentions null and void.
It’s worth noting that the United London workers organized a rally in the Korangi area without obtaining permission and obstructed roads, leading to a case being registered against them at Korangi police station. Similarly, the Pashtun Protection Movement workers held a demonstration without proper authorization from the administration and disrupted normal traffic, resulting in a case being registered against them as well.
