In Lahore, Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has instructed the halt of development projects totaling 36 billion rupees.
During a meeting with various department officials, she questioned the effectiveness of investing significant amounts in addressing Lahore’s issues, expressing dissatisfaction with their responses.
Consequently, she directed a reassessment of the development plans and suspended tender issuance. Earlier, Maryam Nawaz had sanctioned a 12 billion rupees budget for infrastructure in Baldia Uzmi Lahore. Ghafran Ahmed, MD of WASA, acknowledged that while problems may not be permanently eradicated, they can be mitigated with sufficient funding from the Punjab government. Drainage concerns persist despite previous efforts, but discussions in the forthcoming meeting with the Chief Minister are anticipated to lead to resolutions.
