The Election Commission has frozen the development funds of local and cantonment boards.

In Islamabad, the Election Commission has taken measures to ensure fair and transparent elections by temporarily halting the allocation of development funds for local and cantonment boards nationwide.

The commission, through an official notification, has suspended the disbursement of development funds for local bodies in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, and Kent Boards until the completion of the elections. During this period, local bodies are permitted to only engage in routine operations and maintenance tasks, such as day-to-day affairs and cleaning activities. The initiation or tendering of new projects is prohibited, except for those developments announced prior to the release of the general election schedule, which will proceed as planned. The Election Commission’s decision aims to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
