In preparation for the 2024 general elections scheduled for February 8, the Election Commission has issued guidelines regarding nomination papers.

As per the Commission’s directive, a candidate is permitted to submit up to five nomination papers, each supported by different recommenders. The fee for submitting nomination papers for the National Assembly stands at Rs.

Candidates must hold Pakistani citizenship and be at least 25 years old at the time of submitting their nomination papers. Additionally, alongside the nomination papers, candidates must provide a certified copy of their recommender’s and endorser’s identity card. Income tax returns for the past three years should also be included with the nomination papers.

To run for a National Assembly seat, the candidate can be a voter from anywhere in Pakistan. However, for provincial assembly seats, the candidate must hail from the respective province. In the case of seats reserved for women in the National Assembly, the candidate must be a voter in the relevant province.

It’s important to note that nomination papers can be submitted at the office of the relevant Returning Officer between December 20 and December 23.
