Imran Khan

The Election Commission of Islamabad has made a significant decision to remove Imran Khan from his position as Chairman of the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) party.

This decision came after Imran Khan was convicted in the Tosha Khana case. The Chief Election Commissioner chaired an important meeting where Election Commission officials and members participated.

During the meeting, they reviewed the situation following Imran Khan’s court conviction in the Tosha Khana case and concluded that he is no longer eligible to hold the party’s leadership due to the conviction. As a result, the Election Commission will be issuing an official order to dismiss Imran Khan from his position as Chairman of PTI. The political finance wing of the Election Commission is currently preparing the necessary paperwork, and a formal notification will be issued shortly.

Apart from the Imran Khan case, the meeting also discussed the outcomes of the digital census. The possibility of creating new constituencies after the census was explored, and the Election Commission is assessing the constitutional and legal implications of conducting a new census for the upcoming general elections. They also deliberated on the potential delay in the general elections due to the new census.

Overall, the Election Commission sought advice from their legal team and other officials to address the concerns regarding the impact of the census on the general elections and the appropriate course of action to follow.
