The reception arrangements for the German president in Doha encountered chaos when his plane landed in Qatar ahead of schedule.
As reported by the World News Agency, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier had to wait for an extended period as the hosts were not present to welcome him at Qatar Airport. Despite the red carpet laid out and soldiers arranged for a guard of honor, the Qatari authorities were notably absent.
A complete setup awaited the arrival of the German president at the landing site, yet the Qatari officials’ absence caused a delay. Steinmeier’s plane arrived at the airport 30 minutes earlier than planned, leading to an unexpected situation where he had to be greeted on the runway. Protocol dictates that access to the runway is granted precisely at the scheduled time, causing this unforeseen issue.
The absence of the hosts due to the early arrival led to an initial setback. However, officials eventually arrived and offered apologies for the disorder.
President Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s visit to Qatar aimed to advocate for the release of German citizens held captive by Hamas in Gaza.
