The government has dropped its appeal against the High Court rulings in the Tosha Khana case.

Islamabad: The appeal that was previously filed by the federal government against the decisions of the High Court in the Tosha Khana case has been retracted.

The Supreme Court has reviewed a matter concerning the auction of gifts at Tosha Khana.

Malik Javed, the Deputy Attorney General, indicated that the President of Pakistan is currently reviewing a new law pertaining to Tosha Khana gifts.

Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan commented that if indeed a new law is enacted, the ruling of the High Court will stand. Gifts are considered public property; thus, it’s untenable for specific individuals to have exclusive purchasing rights.

Justice Athar Minullah also expressed agreement, asserting that the Lahore High Court’s judgment aligns with both the constitution and the law. He emphasized that only the highest bidder should be eligible to acquire these gifts.

The federal government has chosen to withdraw the previously lodged appeal against the High Court’s directives in the Tosha Khana case.

The Deputy Attorney General stated that the appeal withdrawal is based on the newly established regulations for Tosha Khana.

Justice Athar Minullah remarked that it’s unnecessary to delve into the regulations, as Tosha Khana’s reputation has already suffered. He cautioned against raising questions about the legitimacy of the regulations, as it could lead to inquiries into the legal basis for their creation.
