The case regarding the cipher was put on hold without any developments during the hearing against the PTI Chairman. Present at the court were the Chairman’s wife, a team of lawyers, and his sisters Aleema Khan and Uzma Khanum, alongside the FIA team and prosecutors.
Additionally, Barrister Taimur Malik, representing Shah Mehmood Qureshi, along with Qureshi’s wife Mehreen Qureshi and daughter Mehrabano Qureshi, were also present at Adiala Jail. Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain of the Official Secret Act Special Court joined the proceedings at the jail. However, the court decided to adjourn the cipher case hearing until November 21 without any substantial actions taken.
It’s worth noting that the Islamabad High Court has directed the completion of the trial within four weeks, emphasizing the avoidance of any mention regarding the accused’s honor. FIA Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Abbasi Naqvi addressed the media outside Adiala Jail, mentioning that the court’s decision to postpone the hearing was in compliance with the injunction from the Islamabad High Court. He noted the absence of prosecution witnesses during the day’s proceedings.
