Celebrities from the entertainment industry in Karachi have responded to the surging inflation and substantial hike in electricity costs within Pakistan.
Amid widespread protests against steep electricity prices and dual billing across the nation, notable actors have expressed strong disapproval and outrage.
Actress Zara Noor Abbas, sharing a video of a concerned citizen grappling with their electricity bill, made a plea through a social media post. She urged individuals who are financially capable to provide extra support to those around them, including employees, beyond their regular compensation. She emphasized the importance of contributing due to the escalating inflation prevailing in the country.
Actor Sami Khan, in retweeting the mentioned video, offered prayers for divine intervention.
Conversely, actor Mohib Mirza adopted a satirical tone toward the government’s actions. He took to his Instagram story and quipped, “Thankfully, we didn’t venture to the moon, or else they would have added rocket fuel adjustment charges to our electricity bills.”
It’s worth noting that nationwide demonstrations against the rising inflation rate and supplementary electricity charges are currently underway.
