The MQM has raised concerns about constituencies and a fair playing field with the Election Commission in Islamabad.
Leaders of the party emphasized that Sindh is visibly divided, pending only an official announcement. They pointed out the dominance of the PPP government over the caretaker administration in Sindh, expressing worries that without clean and transparent elections, issues may escalate.
A delegation including Farooq Sattar, Khalid Maqbool, Javed Hanif, and Abdul Hafeez met with the Chief Election Commissioner, voicing their concerns and seeking resolutions on fair electoral grounds and constituency matters.
After the meeting, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui shared that while there’s optimism about the Chief Election Commissioner, he remains unconvinced due to perceived compromises within Sikandar Sultan Raja’s team. They presented clear objections, which received unanimous agreement. Despite caretaker governments in place elsewhere, Sindh awaits its turn.
Maqbool Siddiqui mentioned that objections related to Sindh weren’t adequately considered by the Election Commission. The electoral landscape in Sindh seems divided, awaiting official acknowledgment, indicating evident bias in the upcoming elections.
During the interaction, Farooq Sattar alleged that errors in constituencies have worsened, and the influx of funds from the People’s Party has reached the Election Commission. He suggested that the People’s Party gained from this.
Overall, MQM leaders stressed that a lack of fair and transparent elections could pose significant problems for the country.
