The National Assembly declined to acknowledge independent members as part of the Sunni Unity Council.

The suspect can be taken into 'detention' for 3 months, the bill presented in the National Assembly

In Islamabad, the National Assembly Secretariat has released a statement regarding party affiliations, refusing to acknowledge independent members as part of the Sunni Ittehad Council.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, is expected to make a significant decision regarding the opposition leader today. Official documents now recognize independent members as affiliated with the PTI.

Following a decision by the Peshawar High Court, independent members were denied recognition within the Sunni Unity Council. The ruling coalition’s count stands at 226, while the opposition holds 102 seats.

Within the opposition alliance, 90 members, including those backed by PTI, Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen, and Pashtun Khwa Milli Awami Party, support Umar Ayub Khan for opposition leader. However, 11 members from JUI and BNP Mengal are yet to declare their support for Umar Ayub. Both JUI and BNP Mengal are yet to nominate their candidate for opposition leader.

Currently, the National Assembly comprises 336 members, with 328 having taken their oath, leaving 8 seats vacant.
