The District and Sessions Judge in Islamabad has overturned a previous ruling by the trial court that declared Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as an absconder.
The appeal was heard by Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, with petitioner lawyer Raja Zahoorul Hasan and prosecutor Mohammad Salman Khan present.
Ali Amin Gandapur’s request for exemption from appearing in court due to official commitments was granted. The defense argued that Gandapur’s absence was due to his official engagements. Following deliberation, the court revoked the absconder declaration, citing procedural issues with the notices served to the accused. Consequently, proceedings under sections 87 and 88 against Gandapur were terminated, with the petitioner required to provide a bond of Rs 50,000 and a local surety.
The case was remanded to the trial court, with the next hearing scheduled for March 14. It’s important to note that Ali Amin Gandapur faces charges related to the recovery of arms and liquor, as per a case registered at the Bahara Kahu police station.
