The PPP has been allocated the election symbol ‘sword’ by Election Commission

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has recently assigned the ‘sword’ as the election symbol to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after a lapse of over four decades. This decision came after PPP’s Secretary General, Nayyar Bokhari, personally appeared before the ECP and formally requested the allocation of the ‘sword’ symbol for the party.

Nayyar Bokhari expressed his pride in receiving the symbol, considering it an honor for party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to be associated with the symbol that once represented Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s party.

It’s worth noting that the ‘sword’ symbol was previously removed from the list of election symbols during the tenure of former military ruler Gen Ziaul Haq after the 1977 elections. The other two symbols that were also removed at that time were the ‘plough’ and ‘scales’.
