
Quetta: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized that the current government’s top priority is to promote development and prosperity in Balochistan.
Speaking at a dinner hosted by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the President pledged to play a significant role in ensuring Pakistan’s stability by fostering growth and progress in Balochistan. Given the province’s abundant mineral resources and extensive coastline, Balochistan holds significant strategic importance.
President Zardari outlined plans to boost agricultural production by implementing effective irrigation strategies for the province’s barren lands. He highlighted the passage of the eighteenth constitutional amendment during his tenure, aimed at promoting national development and empowering provincial rights.
Emphasizing the need for modernizing the extraction of Balochistan’s mineral resources, including oil and gas, President Zardari stressed the importance of meeting the country’s economic needs through their sustainable utilization.
Furthermore, he mentioned the ongoing efforts to support low-income families through initiatives like the Benazir Income Support Program, with plans to expand similar programs further. President Zardari affirmed his commitment to prioritizing Balochistan’s development and pledged support for the provincial government in creating opportunities for its people.
He also advocated for resolving Balochistan’s challenges through political dialogue, emphasizing the importance of addressing the province’s issues through peaceful means.
