The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the Council of Common Interests.

Currently, the Council of Common Interests is holding a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, representing the first meeting of the coalition government. Among the discussed topics on the agenda is the new digital census.

Attending the meeting are the Chief Ministers of Sindh and Balochistan, along with the caretaker Chief Ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq, and Federal Minister Naveed Qamar, along with Federal Secretaries from relevant ministries, are also present.

The Ministry of Planning presented the outcomes of the Digital Census and Household Census during the briefing to the Council of Common Interests. If the results gain approval, a notification will be issued accordingly.

However, it is worth noting that the approval of the new census might lead to a potential delay of three to four months in the upcoming general elections.
