“When I was invited to get on it, I was overjoyed,” she said.
“I feel Meghan is such a brilliant pop songwriter, so it was incredible to witness,” said Petras in a statement. I’ve never worked with an artist that wanted to tape me, comp my vocals, and finish the whole thing all at once. She truly is a small angel, a treasure, and she deserves everything the song will bring her. I’m overjoyed and honoured to be a part of it. I’ll never forget how nicely we got along.
Trainor couldn’t help but be impressed with Petras, noting “Kim is a cultural figure.” I’ve been a longtime admirer, and I’m thrilled to have her on ‘Made You Look.’ We had so much fun in the studio together, and she gave just the right amount of excitement to the song. I can’t wait for everyone to hear her voice on this song! She definitely took it to another level.”
Trainor told Rolling Stone about ‘Takin’ It Back’ in an interview: “I stopped pursuing radio and what I believed people wanted to hear and started writing what I liked. Each song is written from my heart. My sorrowful, wounded heart and my cheerful, confident heart alternate.”
