Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear the government’s appeals against the annulment of the NAB amendments today.
A 5-member larger bench, headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and including Justices Aminuddin, Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Athar Minallah, and Hasan Azhar Rizvi, will preside over the case. The Supreme Court has directed the founder of PTI to appear via video link.
Imran Khan has filed a request to appear in the Supreme Court in person, submitting a written request to the Chief Justice through the jail administration. A 4-member bench had previously invalidated the NAB amendments at the request of the PTI founder, transferring corruption cases of politicians worth less than 50 crores to NAB. The NAB amendments that transferred the case to the prosecution had been invalidated, and the Supreme Court ordered that the cases of all persons in public positions be reinstated. The federal government has filed intra-court appeals against this decision.
