The NAB references against Shehbaz Sharif and several other politicians have yet to be forwarded to the accountability courts in Lahore, where important political cases are eagerly awaited.
Express News reported that the Supreme Court has invalidated certain NAB amendments, thereby extending NAB’s jurisdiction to include corruption cases involving amounts less than 50 crores. Despite clear directives from the Supreme Court on this matter, the critical cases in Lahore have not been transferred to the accountability courts.
Notably, the Ramzan Sugar Mills reference involving former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz has not reached the court. Additionally, the Paragon reference, which pertains to former minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique, is pending. The reference concerning illegal contracts for mineral reserves in Chiniot, which involves Sabtain Khan and others, is also awaiting revival.
Furthermore, the reference related to unlawful recruitment at Punjab University, implicating former Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujahid Kamran and others, was meant to be reinstated. Similarly, the Punjab Youth Festival reference involving former DG Sports Usman Anwar was also due for reinstatement.
