The true reason behind the reassignment of Additional Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar, who pronounced a sentence against PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the Toshah Khana reference, has come to light.
Judge Humayun Dilawar, designated as On Special Duty (OSD), penned a letter to the Registrar of the Islamabad High Court, revealing his serious concerns about personal security. He requested a transfer to a different posting due to these security threats.
Notably, after returning from training in the UK, Humayun Dilawar had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court, outlining his security apprehensions. He returned to Pakistan on August 16 and swiftly addressed his security concerns in a letter to the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, referencing the PTI Chairman’s case as well. He expressed his apprehension that protests might escalate into untoward incidents in his courtroom, drawing parallels to the protests and threats he encountered during his UK training.
In his communication, Judge Humayun Dilawar conveyed that since his verdict against the political party leader, he has been subjected to a social media campaign against him, resulting in serious threats from various global quarters.
He disclosed that his family residing in the village has also received threats from across the border, with his children facing distressing situations at their schools.
The message conveyed that even during his time at the University of Hull, UK, both he and fellow judicial officers encountered the unfortunate situation of being reassigned. He appealed for a potential posting at the G-11 judicial complex or the Islamabad High Court.
