The US State Department has expressed its desire for open and fair elections to be held in Pakistan. Vedant Patel, the spokesperson for the US State Department, mentioned during a press briefing that the United States is cognizant of the establishment of an interim government in Pakistan, with Anwar Haq serving as the caretaker prime minister.
Patel emphasized the US government’s willingness to collaborate with the interim administration and affirmed their commitment to assisting Pakistan in achieving transparent and unfettered elections, as well as promoting economic stability, security, democratic values, and the rule of law.
The spokesperson further highlighted the shared interests of Pakistan and the US in addressing threats to regional stability. Ongoing consultations and dialogues between the two nations regarding counter-terrorism efforts were acknowledged. The US expressed its readiness to collaborate with Pakistan in addressing extremist elements and terrorist organizations, pledging support for the Pakistani government’s initiatives against terrorism.
