Miami: The United States has seized the plane of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in the Dominican Republic.
US authorities have delivered the Dussault Falcon 900 EX private plane used by Maduro and members of his government to Florida.
The US Department of Justice said that this plane was bought illegally.
Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement that the Department of Justice has seized an aircraft that we allege was illegally purchased by a company for $13 million.
Merrick Garland added that the plane was smuggled out of the United States for use by Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his associates.
The United States enlisted the help of tracking site FlightRadar24 to seize the plane, which it said had been flying exclusively from a military base in Venezuela since May 2023.
According to the tracking site, the plane took off from Santo Domingo to Fort Lauderdale yesterday morning, after which US authorities seized the plane from the Fort Lauderdale airport.
