Karachi, Pakistan is aiming to host the T10 Cricket League this year, but the tight schedule poses a significant challenge. The T10 format, which features 60 balls per match, first took place in the UAE in December 2017, gaining interest from cricket boards in the West Indies and Sri Lanka. Now, Pakistan is keen on organizing its own T10 league.
Zaka Ashraf, Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, made the official announcement. Emphasizing the need to keep up with the evolving trends in the game, the board official expressed confidence that the T10 League could gain immense popularity in the coming years. To achieve this goal, they plan to launch the league in the near future, possibly in the next year. However, finding a suitable window in the jam-packed cricket calendar presents a major hurdle. Despite this challenge, the board is committed to selling separate franchises for the league.
The success of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) on the global stage has encouraged PCB to venture into the T10 format. The details of the league and its logo will be unveiled at an event in due time, and the authorities are actively engaging with potential franchise buyers. Moreover, there are intentions to include women’s teams, promoting gender equality and expanding the league’s reach.
Cricket enthusiasts and stakeholders eagerly await further updates on this exciting new addition to Pakistan’s cricketing landscape.
