Following the enactment of the new accountability law, three out of the four accountability courts in Rawalpindi division have been disbanded, with their judges being reassigned.
Currently, there is a lone remaining accountability court in Rawalpindi, presided over by Judge Qamar-ul-Zaman, who will continue to discharge his duties.
The Accountability Court Rawalpindi is now handling only four ongoing NAB (National Accountability Bureau) references.
One of the NAB courts in Rawalpindi has been transformed into a banking court and relocated to Sialkot, while another has been transferred along with its staff to Hafizabad. The third court has been reconstituted as a Special Insurance Tribunal within the Pindi area.
In contrast, Islamabad retains three NAB courts, and three regular courts have been closed.
