In the city of Karachi, the value of the dollar increased both in the open market and the interbank market, reaching new highs. During the third day of the business week, the dollar appreciated against the rupee. In the open market, the dollar gained 50 paise and reached Rs 306.50.
Simultaneously, within the interbank market, the dollar experienced fluctuations throughout the day, ultimately leading to a net increase of 63 paise against the rupee. This pushed the interbank rate to a new peak of Rs 299.63.
Shifting focus, the Pakistan Stock Exchange commenced trading on Wednesday with a promising surge of 18 points, driving the KSE 100 index to 47436 points. However, as the day progressed, the market witnessed a decline of 106 points. Eventually, the KSE 100 index managed a modest increase of 0.73 points, settling at 47418 points by the end of the business day amidst mixed trends and volatility.
