According to Business Insider, a worldwide map based on search engine data depicts the most popular jobs, and some unexpected positions made it into the top 20.
The financial services company Remitly published data from worldwide Google searches for “how to be a…” with the desired job filled in between October 2021 and October 2022. The results were ranked and categorized using the most desirable dream job in each nation.
Insider Pilot, writer, dancer, YouTuber, and entrepreneur topped the list of the world’s 20 most desirable careers. The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia have the highest number of searches for “how to be a pilot.” In 2021, the median pay for commercial pilots in the United States was just under $100,000, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The majority of Chinese people want to be nutritionists, according to the study, while Lebanese people want to learn how to be comedians.
Writing is the top dream job in Southeast Asia, New Zealand, and South Africa, with over 800,000 global Google searches. However, experts at Remitly cautioned against the dangers of a writing career.
The report states, “There are big rewards if you reach the top, but it also promises to be a grueling career filled with rejection, self-doubt, and financial concerns for many.”
However, the data show that writing is still the most popular profession in 75 countries. One of the more varied careers on the list is that of the professional writer, which can lead to careers as a journalist, author, or scriptwriter.
Despite the findings of Remitly’s research, some professionals, according to Insider’s Shana Lebowitz, are in favor of eliminating the term “dream job.” Instead, a growing number of people are prioritizing their personal identities over their jobs.
In a LinkedIn post, a recruiter wrote, “We all need to work to survive, but that doesn’t mean we should dream about work.”
