The most recent update to WhatsApp, version 23.2.0.75, was recently submitted to the TestFlight beta program. What, then, has this update added? According to a recent report from WABetaInfo, a new feature that is currently in development is the ability to respond to messages within the announcement group. According to reports, a number of users have found that they are unable to respond to messages that are posted to the WhatsApp community announcement group. It is not possible to respond to messages in the community announcement group because doing so would make your phone number available to anyone. WhatsApp is working on making it so that when you respond to messages in this particular group, your phone number is hidden. Thanks to the recently released WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.2.0.75, WABetaInfo learned that WhatsApp is working on the same feature for a future iOS app update. "an in-app banner to announce when an update that brings message reactions within the announcement group is available" can be seen in this screenshot of WhatsApp. A WhatsApp update from the App Store or the TestFlight app would be required in this scenario in order to respond to messages posted in the community announcement group. The capability of responding to messages sent within the community announcement group will be made available in a subsequent version. California-based technology company Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has recently been enhancing the user experience of its sub-messaging application, WhatsApp. In its Android beta version, WhatsApp has introduced a new voice chat feature for group chats, which allows users to make calls to any member of the group without ringing their phones.

In the beta version, users will notice a sound waves signature icon in group chats. Tapping on this icon initiates the voice chat, and a specific interface will appear to facilitate the conversation. What’s interesting is that all members in the group can join the voice chat at any time. However, if no member joins the chat within 60 minutes, the chat will automatically end, but any member can initiate a new audio conversation whenever they wish.

This feature is primarily designed for groups with more than 32 members and provides the advantage of calling any group member without causing their phone to ring audibly. Instead, when a new voice call begins, all members receive a silent notification, and a small thumbnail appears on the group icon to indicate an ongoing voice chat.

It’s worth noting that this new feature is end-to-end encrypted, ensuring that all content shared during the voice call remains secure and restricted only to the participants of the conversation. This encryption adds an extra layer of privacy to the user experience.
