The voting process for the election of the mayor of Shahr Quaid has started, in which Murtaza Wahab of the People’s Party and Hafiz Naeemur Rehman of the Jamaat-e-Islami are competing.
The Auditorium of the Arts Council was declared as a polling station by the Election Commission, where the arrival of members for voting continued from 9 am and after 303 members reached the polling station at different times, the doors of the auditorium were closed. Sources say that 33 PTI members are absent.
Outside the polling station, there is a large number of workers of political parties who are shouting slogans. According to the sources, a show of hands was conducted for Murtaza Wahab, the Mayoral candidate of the People’s Party of Karachi, after which those who voted for him are being counted and registered.
Earlier, the members who came to vote in the polling station were allowed to enter after identification. For the convenience of the members, 4 cantors were created, where selected The representatives obtained the voting card by showing the identity card. Members coming for voting were not allowed to carry mobile phones.
It should be noted that Salman Abdullah Murad of People’s Party and Saifuddin Advocate of Jamaat-e-Islami are in the field for Deputy Mayor. Apart from this, the election of chairman and vice-chairman of 9 tons municipal corporation will also be held today, while in 11 tons, the candidates for chairman and vice-chairman have won unopposed.
After the withdrawal of the alternative candidates, PPP’s Barrister Murtaza Wahab and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Hafiz Naeemur Rehman are in the field for the Mayoral Karachi battle.
Voting will be by show of hands in the Arts Council Auditorium. According to the Election Commission, the private media will not be able to cover the polling process, however, the initial proceedings will be broadcasted by state TV, but the show of hands will not be shown on state television.
