Lahore: Questions arise over the decision to allocate a reserve day solely for the Pakistan-India match in the Asia Cup, with doubts expressed by Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan coaches.

In the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, if rain interrupts the traditional rivals’ match on Sunday, it will resume on Monday.

Chandika Hathorasinghe, the coach of Bangladesh, pointed out that the 6-member technical committee, which includes representatives from all participating countries, should have collectively made this decision. Given the decision has been made, he refrained from making further comments and suggested that reserve days should also be considered for matches involving other teams.

Chris Silverwood, the coach of Sri Lanka, expressed surprise regarding the decision, emphasizing that they are not the organizers. He noted that in the event of the match being decisive, either Pakistan or India would gain 2 points, while the others may receive just one point if their matches are affected by rain.

It’s important to mention that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) modified the playing conditions to include a reserve day for the scheduled Asia Cup Super Four match between Pakistan and India.
