A contempt of court petition has been lodged concerning the failure to ensure the safe return of Parvez Elahi. Simultaneously, his arrest under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) has been contested in the courts of Lahore and Islamabad.
In the Lahore High Court, a contempt petition has been submitted by Qaisara Elahi, the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the wife of former Punjab Chief Minister, against the failure to safely bring Chaudhry Parvez Elahi home. This petition names the DIG Operations, DIG Investigations, and the SP Security High Court as parties. The petitioner has urged the Chief Justice to schedule an immediate hearing, asserting that the police officers did not comply with the court’s order to bring Parvez Elahi home. The petitioner seeks contempt of court action against the DIG Operations and DIG Investigation.
Concurrently, on behalf of Parvez Elahi’s wife, Qaisara Elahi, a separate petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court, challenging the abduction of Parvez Elahi from Canal Road and his subsequent detention by unknown individuals. The court has already issued an order for the recovery of Parvez Elahi.
Meanwhile, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has contested his arrest under the MPO in the Islamabad High Court. In a petition submitted by lawyer Abdul Razzaq, it is requested that the arrest of Chaudhry Parvez Elahi under the MPO be nullified. The petition argues that this arrest is politically motivated, and the MPO issued on September 1 is unlawful. Therefore, the arrest under the MPO should be revoked, and his release should be ordered.
