
In a recent development, Balochistan Awami Party leader Anwarul Haq Kakar has been chosen as the caretaker prime minister. This decision follows a second round of discussions between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and opposition leader Raja Riaz on the matter. After their meeting at the Prime Minister House, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Lahore.
Opposition Leader Raja Riaz confirmed the decision in a media statement, revealing that both he and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have agreed to appoint Anwarul Haq Kakar as the Caretaker Prime Minister. Raja Riaz disclosed that the Prime Minister had endorsed this choice by signing the decision. The finalized nomination of Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar as the Caretaker Prime Minister has been forwarded to the President for official confirmation.
The Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson also affirmed the selection of Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar as the Caretaker Prime Minister through an official statement. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to the opposition leader for his collaborative approach during the consultation process. The spokesperson additionally acknowledged the opposition leader’s commendable leadership over the past 16 months.
Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, a member of the Balochistan Awami Party, holds the distinction of being elected as a senator in 2018. He currently chairs the Senate Standing Committee of Overseas Pakistanis.
