Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party, expressed his belief that this time, the people of Pakistan will not choose a Prime Minister from Lahore. He made these remarks during a conversation with the media at Guzri Stadium in Karachi.
Bilawal Bhutto stated that the recently held local body elections in Karachi serve as a preview for the upcoming February elections. He highlighted that the local elections demonstrated strong support for the People’s Party, even when they were not in power.
He emphasized that the People’s Party is the only solution to the country’s problems, including economic challenges, poverty, and inflation. According to Bilawal Bhutto, his party can contribute to poverty reduction and job creation.
Regarding the reported contact between Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif, he mentioned that this information is not new, and his party remains open to collaboration with other political groups in accordance with their manifesto.
Bilawal Bhutto announced their intention to establish a federal government alongside local and provincial governments, expressing confidence in their victory on February 8, suggesting that the “arrow” (the party’s symbol) will triumph. He reiterated that the next Prime Minister should not hail from Lahore.
He criticized the current President for what he perceived as a constitutional violation, emphasizing that his party has been calling for action against the President for 15 months, although other political parties have only recently joined this demand.
Regarding the events of May 9, he stressed that those involved should not be granted forgiveness.
Bilawal Bhutto also highlighted disparities in the treatment of Sindh compared to other provinces, particularly in terms of development schemes and approvals for projects.
Finally, he reaffirmed the People’s Party’s commitment to countering terrorism and expressed concerns about the presence of weapons left in Afghanistan falling into the hands of terrorists.
