In Islamabad, the power-sharing arrangement between the government and the opposition regarding the formation of National Assembly Committees has been outlined, marking the final stages of negotiations.
As per reports from Express News, the government coalition will hold chairmanship positions in 26 National Assembly committees, while the opposition will chair 11. Additionally, the opposition will head the Public Accounts Committee, whereas the government alliance will oversee the Kashmir Committee. The Speaker will preside over the National Assembly House Business Advisory Committee.
Under this framework, 13 Standing Committees, 16 members of the Public Accounts Committee, and 15 members of the Kashmir Committee will be from the government coalition. Furthermore, 18 members of the House Business Advisory will represent the government coalition.
Opposition representation will include 7 members in the standing committees of the National Assembly, the Public Accounts Committee, and the Kashmir Committee. Additionally, 14 committee chairmanships will be assigned to Muslim League-N, 8 to PPP, 2 to MQM, and one each to Muslim League-Q and the Stability Pakistan Party.
Independent members backed by PTI will chair 10 committees, while JUI will chair one. Among the standing committees, 14 members will be from the government and 6 from opposition parties, with specific allocations for different factions. The Public Accounts Committee will comprise 16 government MPs and 7 opposition MPs, and the Privileges Committee will consist of 15 government members and 7 opposition members.
Government assurances committees will have 11 government members and 5 opposition members. Similarly, the House and Library Committee will have 9 government members and 4 opposition members. The Kashmir committee will have a government majority of 15 members, with 7 opposition members. Finally, the House Business Advisory Committee will comprise 18 government members and 8 opposition members.
