
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar convened an urgent session yesterday to address the issue of electricity bills.
In a statement shared on social media, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar announced that an emergency meeting had been held at the Prime Minister House to discuss the matter of substantial electricity bills.
During the session, the Prime Minister expressed that a comprehensive briefing would be presented by the Ministry of Electricity and distribution companies. The main objective of the meeting was to explore avenues for providing the maximum possible relief to consumers concerning their electricity bills.
Protests have been witnessed nationwide in response to the remarkable escalation in electricity bills. Instances of violence against personnel from electricity supply companies have also been reported in various cities. The public, including traders, is urging the government to lower electricity rates. Additionally, traders have declared a shutdown in protest against the high electricity bills and associated taxes.
