Rawalpindi: The government has initiated a stringent campaign to combat electricity theft. To this end, authorities have issued firm directives to the relevant institutions.
Stringent orders have been dispatched to Rawalpindi Police concerning their operations against electricity thieves. In a communication sent by CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Hamdani to Divisional SPs, Sub-Divisional Police Officers, and SHOs, it has been emphasized that the Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has devised a strategy to curb electricity theft, which must be strictly adhered to.
The letter stipulates that, when reports or requests for action against electricity thieves are received, immediate registration of cases is imperative. Any delay in filing FIRs against electricity thieves should be avoided at all costs. There should not be any pending FIRs against electricity thieves in any police station.
Regarding the crackdown, it is further emphasized that when cases are filed against electricity thieves, prompt arrests of the accused should be made. Daily reports detailing actions against electricity thieves should be submitted to the CPO control room by 11 pm each day. Additionally, all records should be uploaded onto the online pollcom system of Punjab Police.
