In Islamabad, Manzoor Wasan, a prominent leader of the People’s Party, has expressed the possibility of his party forming an electoral alliance with Tehreek-e-Insaf.
During his visit to the Election Commission office in Islamabad, he held a meeting with Nisar Durrani, a member of the Election Commission from Sindh. During this meeting, the People’s Party offered suggestions concerning the upcoming general elections and the delineation of constituencies.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Wasan criticized MQM’s objections regarding constituency demarcation, deeming them unjustified. He asserted that high-ranking officials from Sindh are involved in MQM, and he accused MQM of having a tendency to provoke and complain. Wasan also noted that MQM has historically been part of various ruling coalitions.
Regarding the timing of the general elections, he mentioned that they could potentially take place in the final week of January. He predicted that no single political party would secure an absolute majority in these elections. He hinted at the possibility of an electoral alliance between PPP and PTI, though he expressed concerns about PTI’s perceived vulnerability in challenging situations.
Furthermore, the former provincial minister shared his dedication to the Bhutto legacy, stating that even during his time in incarceration, he and others continued to chant “Jai Bhutto.” He humorously mentioned that his current lack of sleep has prevented him from dreaming about politics.
