Mohammad Hafeez, the National Cricket Team Director, mentioned that he personally reached out to Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir via phone but both former players expressed their reluctance to play for Pakistan.
During a press conference in Lahore, Hafeez revealed, “Imad Wasim hadn’t finalized the central contract. I called him, expressing my interest in having him on the team and emphasized his significance. I urged him to make his availability clear for the Pakistan team.”
He further explained, “Imad responded that he would contemplate it. Two days later, he conveyed that he wouldn’t be available for the upcoming New Zealand series. Shortly after, he announced his retirement.”
Hafeez also shared, “Likewise, I contacted Mohammad Amir, requesting him to rescind his retirement and participate in domestic matches for potential selection. I assured him of fair opportunities upon return to the team.”
As per Hafeez, “Amir stated that he feels more aligned with international leagues. His life has undergone changes, and he has moved on, choosing to stand by the decisions made over the past few years.”
