Progress has been made in the petition filed in the Supreme Court for action against 436 people involved in the Panama Papers. Jamaat-e-Islami submitted a written response to 9 questions asked by the Supreme Court.
The first question of the court was that in view of what circumstances, the first application of Jamaat-e-Islami was separated from the main Panama case?
Jamaat-e-Islami submitted its reply that the bench hearing the Panama case had said that if Jamaat-e-Islami’s case is heard, the decision may take many years.
The bench said that we will hear Nawaz Sharif’s case first. The second question of the Supreme Court was why the Panama case does not come under the jurisdiction of the Income Tax Ordinance.
In response, Jamaat-e-Islami said that the Supreme Court had declared in the Panama case judgment that FBR is not interested in the matter, FIA does not have the authority to take action against the public office holder, as The Panama verdict dealt with iron hands against Nawaz Sharif should be applied similarly to other 436 people.
Jamaat-e-Islami took a position that the names of people from more than eleven countries of the world appeared in the list of Panama scandal, these countries took legal action, action was taken only against Nawaz Sharif and his family in Pakistan, JIT should be formed against 436 people included in the Panama scandal list.
It should be noted that the bench headed by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood asked 9 questions in the June 9 court proceedings. A JIT should be formed against.
