KARACHI: The PCB has successfully resolved matters with Inzamam-ul-Haq, and the management committee has granted approval for a three-year contract, with a reported monthly salary of Rs 20 lakh.
The Pakistan Cricket Board initially announced Inzamam-ul-Haq’s appointment as the chief selector on August 7. While he had already chosen squads for the Test series and the Asia Cup against Sri Lanka, the contract’s duration remained under negotiation.
Inzamam emphasized the necessity of a long-term Chief Selector appointment to ensure consistent decision-making and progress in Pakistan cricket.
Participating virtually in the PCB’s management committee meeting held in Karachi on Sunday, Inzamam-ul-Haq received unanimous approval for the three-year contract. The committee praised his cricketing contributions and speculated about a monthly payment of Rs 20 lakh.
Sources added that even retired cricketers, due to lucrative leagues and other commitments, are reluctant to take up roles with lower remuneration. As a result, the PCB faces challenges in attracting renowned names.
Meanwhile, Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq is scheduled to meet with team director Mickey Arthur, head coach Grant Bradburn, and captain Babar Azam in Multan on Tuesday. The purpose of the meeting is to deliberate on the World Cup squad selection.
Notably, Mickey Arthur’s tenure will conclude post the India-Pakistan match in Sri Lanka. Inzamam-ul-Haq aims to discuss potential World Cup squad options in Arthur’s presence.
