In the Tosha Khana case, Imran Khan, the Chairman of PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Islamabad court. The case was presided over by Judge Humayun Dilawar of the District and Sessions Court of Islamabad. Initially, the court had summoned Imran Khan to appear in person.
During the hearing, no lawyer representing PTI appeared in the court. Amjad Pervez, the lawyer for the Election Commission, was present and was asked if he had any remarks. In a lighter moment, the judge asked him to recite some poetry.
Later, PTI’s lawyer, Khalid Yusuf, finally showed up in the court and explained that Khawaja Haris, the lawyer responsible for the case, was currently attending the accountability court, and more time was needed for Imran Khan’s appearance.
The judge inquired about the specific case that was keeping Khawaja Haris occupied. The lawyer informed the court that Khawaja Haris was involved in the bail case of Chairman PTI and Bushra Bibi, Imran Khan’s wife. He assured the court that Khawaja Haris would come to the session court after finishing the current matter.
As the proceedings continued, the Election Commission’s lawyer, Amjad Pervez, mentioned that the accountability court’s case would be addressed at 2:30.
In light of these developments, it seems Imran Khan’s sentencing and subsequent arrest have been postponed due to the need for his lawyer’s presence and scheduling conflicts in other cases.
